> dijitul hosts Shopware 6 stores in the UK. Small and medium shops run on managed Plesk hosting for £1 a day + VAT, with PHP 8.2 or newer, message queue workers and scheduled tasks configured properly. Larger catalogues, B2B setups and busy shops get a quoted managed VPS. Migration, backups and SSL are included.

## Key facts

- Shopware 6.7 needs PHP 8.2, 8.3 or 8.4
- Shopware 6.7 needs MySQL 8.0.17+ or MariaDB 10.11+, avoiding a few known problem point releases
- Shopware 6.7 needs Node.js 20 or higher to build the storefront and administration
- Redis 7.0 or higher is optional, and helps with cache, sessions and locks
- In production, the message queue should run as a background worker, not through the admin
- Small and medium Shopware stores fit the £1 a day + VAT plan; larger ones are quoted

## Shopware 6 server requirements

Shopware 6 is a Symfony-based shop popular in Germany and growing in the UK, especially for B2B. The requirements for Shopware 6.7 are:

- **PHP 8.2, 8.3 or 8.4** with extensions including intl, gd, zip, xml, curl, mbstring, pdo_mysql, sodium and OPcache
- **MySQL 8.0.17 or newer** (avoid 8.0.20 and 8.0.21) or **MariaDB 10.11 or newer** (avoid 10.11.5 and 11.0.3)
- **Node.js 20+** for building the storefront and admin
- **Composer** for installing and updating
- Optional **Redis 7+** and OpenSearch for larger catalogues

A PHP **memory_limit** of 512M is the usual starting point.

## Workers and scheduled tasks: the bit most hosts get wrong

Shopware does a lot of work in the background: indexing products, sending mail, generating thumbnails, running sitemap and import jobs. Out of the box it runs these through the **admin worker**, which only works while someone has the admin open in a browser.

For a live shop we turn that off and run:

- **bin/console messenger:consume** as a supervised background process for the message queue
- **bin/console scheduled-task:run** on a server schedule for scheduled tasks

Without these, product changes appear late, emails queue up and the admin feels sluggish. It is the most common fault we see on Shopware shops moved from cheap hosting.

## Which Shopware shops suit £1 a day

A shop with a few thousand products, a single sales channel and normal UK traffic runs well on Complete Hosting at £1 a day + VAT. Shops with large B2B price lists, several sales channels and languages, ERP integrations or OpenSearch for search are better on a managed VPS, which we quote after looking at your setup.

## Upgrades from Shopware 5 and older 6.x

Shopware 5 is end of life, and moving to Shopware 6 is a migration rather than an update. Shopware's migration assistant moves products, customers and orders, but themes and plugins must be rebuilt. Within Shopware 6, major updates such as 6.6 to 6.7 change PHP and Node requirements, so plugins have to be checked first. We set up a staging copy so updates can be tried safely before the live shop changes.

## Payments, PCI and moving to dijitul

Use payment apps such as PayPal, Stripe or Mollie that keep card entry on the provider's side, which keeps your PCI scope small and supports 3D Secure 2. We copy your shop, update the .env settings, rebuild caches and theme assets, set up workers and cron, and test checkout before switching DNS. After that, our UK team look after the server and daily backups.

## FAQs

### What PHP version does Shopware 6.7 need?

Shopware 6.7 needs PHP 8.2, 8.3 or 8.4. It also needs MySQL 8.0.17 or newer, or MariaDB 10.11 or newer, and Node.js 20 or higher for building assets. Redis 7 or newer is optional but useful for cache and sessions on busier shops.

### Can Shopware 6 run on shared hosting?

Small Shopware 6 shops can run on good managed hosting, but it needs SSH, Composer, Node.js, a background message queue worker and scheduled tasks. Many budget shared hosts can't provide those. dijitul runs small and medium Shopware shops for £1 a day + VAT and quotes a VPS for larger ones.

### Why is my Shopware admin so slow?

Often the message queue is being processed by the admin worker in your browser, so every admin page does background work. Disabling the admin worker and running messenger:consume and scheduled-task:run on the server usually fixes it, along with running in production mode with OPcache.

### Can I upgrade Shopware 5 to Shopware 6?

Not in place. Shopware 6 is a different system. The official migration assistant moves products, customers, orders and other data from Shopware 5, but your theme and plugins need rebuilding for Shopware 6. Plan it as a project and test on a separate install.

### Who hosts Shopware in the UK?

dijitul, a UK company trading since 2006, hosts Shopware 6 shops on managed hosting with workers, cron and caching set up properly. Small and medium shops are £1 a day + VAT including migration and backups. Larger B2B or multi-channel shops are quoted on a managed VPS.
