One domain included, more when you need them
Most people pay for their domain in one place and their hosting in another, with two renewal dates to forget. With dijitul Complete Hosting, one domain registration or renewal is included each year in the £1 a day + VAT price.
If you own more names, for example the .co.uk and the .com, or a few campaign domains, order them through the client portal at clients.dijitul.uk. Premium domain names, which registries price above standard rates, and some less common extensions are not included.
Which extension should you choose?
- .co.uk is still the default for UK businesses and the one customers tend to type.
- .uk is shorter. Many businesses own both and redirect one to the other.
- .org.uk suits charities, clubs and community groups.
- .com suits businesses selling internationally, or to protect your brand.
- .org and .net are widely recognised generic options.

Transferring a domain to dijitul
.uk domains (.uk, .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk)
Nominet runs the .uk registry. Transfers work by changing the domain's IPS tag, which identifies the registrar. You ask your current registrar to change the tag to ours. There's no auth code. If your old registrar won't do it, the registrant can change the tag through Nominet's online services for a small fee. A tag change doesn't change who owns the domain.
.com, .org, .net and other gTLDs
These use an auth code (also called an EPP code). Unlock the domain at your current registrar, request the code and give it to us. A transfer usually takes up to five days. Under current ICANN rules, a domain normally can't move within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer, though ICANN has approved changes to these rules.

Keep your domain in your name
Your domain should be registered to you or your business, not to a web designer. We register domains in the customer's name. If a past supplier registered yours in their name, we can help you get it back. See abandoned website takeover.

Does dijitul include a free domain with hosting?
Yes. dijitul Complete Hosting at £1 a day + VAT includes one domain registration or renewal each year on common extensions such as .uk, .co.uk, .com, .org, .org.uk and .net. Premium names and some extensions are excluded.
How do I transfer a .co.uk domain to another registrar?
Ask your current registrar to change the domain's IPS tag to the new registrar's tag. .uk domains don't use auth codes. If the registrar won't help, the registrant can change the tag through Nominet's online services for a small fee.
How do I transfer a .com domain?
Unlock the domain at your current registrar, request the auth (EPP) code, and give it to your new registrar. Approve any confirmation email. Transfers usually complete within five days. Domains registered or transferred in the last 60 days are normally locked.
Should I buy the .uk as well as the .co.uk?
For most UK businesses, yes. Owning both stops someone else taking the shorter .uk and protects your email reputation. Use one as your main address and redirect the other. dijitul can register extra domains through its client portal.
Can I buy extra domains from dijitul?
Yes. One domain a year is included with the £1 a day + VAT plan, and any extra domains can be ordered through the dijitul client portal at clients.dijitul.uk. We manage their DNS in Cloudflare alongside your main domain.
Who owns my domain if my web designer registered it?
The registrant named on the record owns it. If your designer registered it in their own name, ask them to change the registrant to you. dijitul registers domains in the customer's name and can help recover ones held by past suppliers.
