Hosting for Leicester businesses
Leicester grew on hosiery, knitwear and footwear, and textiles and clothing manufacturing are still part of the city's economy, often in small family firms. Food is another big industry: Walkers crisps are made in Leicester, and the city has many food manufacturers, wholesalers and caterers. Belgrave Road, known as the Golden Mile, is famous for its Indian jewellers, sari shops and restaurants, and Leicester's Diwali celebrations are among the largest outside India.
The city has two universities, the University of Leicester and De Montfort University, and a growing space sector around the National Space Centre and Space Park Leicester. The discovery of Richard III's remains under a car park in 2012 also created a new visitor attraction in the city centre.
Many Leicester firms are family businesses that trade across the UK and abroad, and their websites, catalogues and online shops have to work whatever the time zone. Some still run on older PHP code. dijitul takes care of the hosting: we migrate the site, keep it patched and backed up, and support older PHP versions where it's safe to do so while you plan an upgrade.
