Hosting for York businesses
York's economy leans heavily on visitors. York Minster, the city walls, the Shambles and the Jorvik Viking Centre draw millions of tourists, and the National Railway Museum is one of the UK's most visited free attractions. That supports a dense mix of hotels, guest houses, holiday lets, restaurants, tour operators and independent shops.
York is also a chocolate city. Rowntree's and Terry's both made confectionery here, and Nestlé still produces KitKat in York. The University of York and York St John University bring students and research, and the city has a growing science and agritech sector, with organisations such as Fera Science based just outside.
Tourism websites in York face a particular problem: they are busiest exactly when owners have least time to look after them. A booking page that breaks on a summer weekend or during the Christmas season costs real money. dijitul handles the hosting remotely, with daily backups, SSL and updates managed and a UK number to call.
