What you can do in your Plesk login
- Files: browser file manager, plus FTP or SFTP access.
- Databases: create MySQL or MariaDB databases and users, and manage them in phpMyAdmin.
- PHP: pick the PHP version per site and adjust settings such as memory_limit, upload_max_filesize and max_execution_time.
- Scheduled tasks: add cron jobs to run PHP scripts or fetch URLs on a timetable.
- WordPress Toolkit: install, clone to staging, and manage updates for WordPress sites.
- Git: deploy code from a repository.

Why Plesk is good for older websites
Plesk can run several PHP versions side by side on one server and assign them per site. Our Plesk server runs Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with PHP 5.6, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4 and 8.5 installed. That's why we can host a modern WordPress site on PHP 8.4 next to an older shop that still needs PHP 5.6 or 7.x. Each site runs under its own system user, so one old site can't affect another. If your current host is forcing an upgrade your site can't survive, read legacy PHP hosting.
Common PHP extensions are available, including ionCube Loader for encoded commercial scripts, GD and Imagick for images, intl, mbstring, SOAP and cURL.

Is Plesk better than cPanel?

How do I set up a cron job in Plesk?
Go to Scheduled Tasks for your subscription, add a task, choose to run a command, a PHP script or fetch a URL, and set the timing. dijitul customers can do this themselves or ask the support team to set it up.
